Happy Easter

Happy new month! I hope you had a good month in March, and are looking forward to bigger and better things in April. I honestly don't know where the time went! It was like I blinked and March flew past me. Somebody please tell April to slow down and not fly by so fast... by the way, did anyone get sucked into an April Fool's prank?

This week, I've learnt to be thankful for electricity. Last Monday, there was a power cut in our area that lasted for over 14 hours. It was so unusual for that to happen, we didn't have any back-up in the house! Our place operates on electricity so I couldn't cook, do the laundry, or heat the house. We had to go and get a torch light and batteries in the evening. It was such a relief when the power came back on!

I've finished reading Love in Paradise by Lara Daniels,  Egg-Larva-Pupa-Woman by Ogo Akubue-Ogbata (which the writers both kindly sent to me) and In Dependence by Sarah Ladipo Manyika (which broke my heart). I'm now reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Loving them all, and I promise to review them later. 

The Easter weekend is upon us! I'm looking forward to a relaxing time with hubby, we might visit a couple of family and friends, generally eat more than usual, and reflect on the reason why we celebrate the season. I'm thankful that Jesus came to earth to die for us, and I'm so glad that He accomplished His mission on earth, and He redeemed us. I've been very good so far, I haven't indulged in Easter eggs (yet). But we'll see!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I hope you guys are having a great time during this season. I have been enjoying myself too, relaxing and feeling a bit guilty for eating so much chocolates. I promise to be a good girl when the season is over.

In the meantime, here's a reminder of the the reason why we celebrate Easter:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.(John 3:16-17)

Yep, Jesus is the reason. And Jesus is Alive!

During the Easter service in my church today, I was struck again by how relevant the Easter message is, both to me and the whole world. It was as if the message became clearer, even though I must have heard it hundreds of times. If Jesus did not come to earth, if Jesus did not die for me on the cross, and if Jesus did not conquer death and rise again, then all Christians are wasting their time. Because that would mean we believe in a huge lie or conspiracy. It would mean there's no point in trying to live right here on earth. it would mean there would be no Resurrection after this life. No hope of a life afterwards, spend with God in eternity.

But if He did come to earth, performed miracles, died on the cross and rose up again, then that's good news! Actually, it's more than good news: it's life-changing news! It means He loves me and sacrificed himself for me. It means He has taken away my punishment for sin. It means I have a hope and a future, not only in this life, but in the one to come. It means I have victory over sin and death. It means I have an assurance that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the grave, is living in me and able to help me accomplish all that God has in store for me. That's exciting isn't it? I am excited to share this good news with everyone who reads my blog! It's not something you can sit on the fence about, you either believe in the Easter story or you don't. But I'm a living witness, Jesus is real, He is alive and He has saved me :)

I was listening to a programme on the radio on Friday, a debate between some scientists and Christians. They were talking about historical and scientific evidence that Jesus did actually live on earth, He died and was buried, but He was later seen again by over 500 people. They also mentioned the historical origins of Easter, and how it was originally a pagan festival until the Christians started celebrating Christ's resurrection about the same time. It was an interesting debate and I learnt a few interesting facts, but nothing changes the fact that I believe in Jesus, His death and Resurrection.

Easter Time

It's almost the Easter weekend - yay!! Easter has come earlier than usual this year. Until yesterday I couldn't get into the holiday mood much. I had been feeling a bit down last week since Sunday the 9th. I wasn't coughing or sneezing, but I had headaches and absolutely no energy so I was lethargic and fatigued. I had to take a few days off work to see the GP and he just said the usual stuff: you should eat healthy, take exercise and have lots of rest etc etc. So I rested at home for a while doing nothing. I didn't even have the energy to do anything useful with my time. But I started getting bored, so on Thursday I finally dragged myself to work but it wasn't until Sunday before I finally started to feel better.

The weather in England hasn't exactly been cheerful either in the last few days. Even though it's Easter and spring is supposed to be here, it still feels very much like winter, which doesn't help. There are lots of nice spring and summer clothes in the shops now, but as the temperature stubbornly refuses to go up and weather forecasts are predicting snow and other woes over the Easter weekend, everyone is still wrapped up in their winter jumpers, scarves and gloves. I'm tired of wearing black, brown and grey already! I can't wait for the warmer weather so that we can all start to wear nice spring and summer colours like green, yellow, white, pink, orange, blue etc.

With Easter almost here, it means Lent is almost over too! I think I've benefited a lot from giving up Facebook in the last month. I suddenly found that I have more time to do other important stuff when I am at my computer (lol). I needed to get it out of my system for a while, so I've proved that I can survive without checking it 10 times a day! Now I hope I can have a healthy relationship with Facebook because I've realised it's a useful tool, but I should never let it control my time.

Hubby and I are hopping over to Belgium to spend the Easter break. I haven't been there before so I'm looking forward to it. Travelling has always been one of my hobbies but I had left it dormant for so long to pursue other things. So this year I have decided to revive my interest in seeing the world, broadening my mind and learning about other people and places. I think travelling is a great way of getting an education outside of classrooms, films and books: you are actually there in the adventure, experiencing things for yourself. I have been daydreaming for years about travelling all over the world and I don't want to postpone doing it anymore. So now is a good time to start, one city at a time.

I hope you are planning to enjoy the holidays too. Let's not forget that it's not all about chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies though. It's about reminding ourselves that Jesus came to earth to make the ultimate sacrifice of love: He gave His life for us! So He is the reason for the season. Hope you have a great Easter break!

I have been looking forward to this Easter weekend. To be honest, I was mostly thinking of the time off school and the two Bank Holidays of Good Friday and Easter Monday. The relief of time off work is great! I know, I know... that's not what Easter is about. I was surprised when I read in the Metro newspaper the other day that a large percentage of young people in the UK do not know the reason why Easter is celebrated. An even further lower percentage in the survey said they would be attending church on Easter Sunday. I'm saddened - and this is supposed to be a Christian country! Anyway sha, that got me thinking about why I celebrate Easter too. I have felt my spiritual life stagnating a bit in the last few months. So my prayer this Easter is that I would rediscover Christ in my life in a new way. Whilst trying to avoid eating too many chocolate eggs and bunnies. LOL.

Didn't have anything planned for today, so I was just been chilling at home, browsing blogs and stuff. Until hubby decided to arrange the storage cupborad. Since we moved, I dumped some boxes of stuff there that I never got round to sorting out. As he was sorting out our stuff, he brought out a bag containing all my old photos. I have just been rooting through the photos in there- ranging from secondary school days, to college and university days. There are photos of my friends that I still talk to, photos of people I've lost touch with, photos of people I would consign to the dustbin of history, photos of my 18th, 19th and 21st birthday parties, graduation photos, embarassing school uniform photos, photos from those fun times, phots of past fashions .... etc. All the memories! I showed hubby a photo of myself when I was 17 and he said I looked about 12, how rude! I'm laughing at my old photos right now. I need to archive them to show the kids, lol.

The weather is supposed to be lovely this weekend, so I'm looking forward to it. Here's wishing you all a lovely Easter as we celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ!
